The Skill … and Wage Gaps
As of today, there is no reason why somebody from a less advantaged background couldn’t make as much as somebody with equal skills in a global market. Mostly business and tech oriented, that is the reason why we have created AngkorHUB and the reason it remains. Our members and guests are often tech savvy entrepreneurs, traveling the world, executing ideas, sharing knowledge and .. hiring talents.
An open buffet of knowledge.
Unshared Skills .. our biggest frustration
In a town where the skill gap is palpable. We came up with few ideas over the years without relying on any donations to share knowledge, HUBTALKS interviews (now in Khmer), a resources sharing platform, Free Coding Classes and mentoring programmes. We have participated intro creating environmental awareness groups (and mostly lobbying), hosted NGO meetings and offered various “uses” of our space and skills to change-makers.
But this is not enough
Learning HUBS
We cherish the idea of using the power coworking as a “Learning Hub” even more since we were invited to share our story at the SMART ASEAN for Smart Learning Hub ,STOU University in Bangkok where rural schools were seeking innovative way to offer education with limited resources in the ASEAN context. We have been inspired by other countries such as the Philippines offering a tech4ed system nationwide providing real skills and self-paced learning for topics on literally anything from English to “moto repair”, opening doors for literacy and employability even in the most rural areas.
Our Promise
During the upcoming months, we will multiply our efforts and actions on creating additional free coding classes, “learning how to learn” workshops as well as sharing curated lists of free ressources to access knowledge.
